My oldest son has been living in London for the past year and a half (working on a master's degree), and he has told me that the British are VERY interested in American politics. They showed the presidential debates several times on tv, and the newspapers cover the political scene extensively. He also said they are highly amused by the DNC and RNC conventions. He also said that they seem to be overwhelmingly for Obama.
