I've always liked Happy Holidays because to me it encompasses the New Year holiday too, -- LAwoman, 13:55:37 12/20/07 Thu [1]

First Amendment -- Carrie, 15:06:00 12/21/07 Fri [1]
It's called the "establishment clause." Here's the text of the first amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
That first part says that Congress cannot make any laws that would establish a "state religion." That's why we don't have a national religion. If we were to do something like that, it would negate everything that people came here to escape.
