1. Robert Johnson's deal with the devil is faustian. Faustian is a word that means, sacrificing spiritual values for power, knowledge, or material gain, and that is exactly what Robert Johnson did, he went to the crossroads, and traded his soul to the devil for the ability to flawlessly play the guitar. He was then given that talent, and became the king of the delta blues.

2. Hoodoo is defined as, "encoded passages of Creole work songs, as well as an unknown number of time-lost styles that were unceremoniously dumped with the shackles of slavery." Robert Johnson's music incorporated the aspects of the country blues, and had influences of Mississippi Delta Hoodoo, meaning, his songs had much more then lyrical meaning, they also held a long history of stylistical meanings as well.

3. I believe that the story of Robert Johnson at the crossroads is a metaphor that both aspiring and successful musicians follow. I feel this way because in order to be totally successful and have a drive to do what you want, you have to give up things, whether it be on a minor or major scale. In this case it was on a much larger scale because Robert Johnson gave up his soul for the talent of playing guitar, and for fame as well. So it does make sense that this is the metaphor that many muscians will choose to follow.

4. If I were to ever wait at the crossroads, I would be waiting to achieve financial success. I would want to achieve financial success so that I can retire early, and use my money to travel the world and experience different cultures that are unique to our society. I would also use my money to help out other people not only in America, but around the world.
