When the sky sinks down on me
I find myself thinking about
what's behind it.

What's behind the black of her eyes?
The space where silent thoughts
fall into vacuums.

It's not like I could ever figure
anyone out completely.

I'm still working on myself
and there's much work left to do.
It's more of an inate curiousity.

Like wondering what would happen
if I walked into the lions cage
at the zoo.

People come and go in my life.
I'm OK with that. I think we all
need to keep our own measure of
who gets in, and of those that
get in, which ones stay for good.

Still, there are those that
leave me feeling used, raped,
and wripped off.

I'm not always right about that.
Hell, I'm wrong a bunch more than
I care to admit.

In the end I don't know
what goes on in that space
behind the eyes.

All I have to go on
is my experience
and gut insticts.

When they fail me I get over it, because
nine times out of ten they're right.

...........and the beat goes on.
