those loving whispers that have remained
with me throughout this painful journey ...
holding on to the belief that when I
needed you all I had to do was look
over my shoulder and you would

You have walked this road with me ...
these endless miles that taunt ... those
that stretch out before me in what
seems like an eternity of ache paved
in memories ... you've seen me stumble
... those moments when I took my eyes
off the road just long enough so I could
turn around and see your smile ... just
'one more time' ...

There have been moments along the
way when you felt close enough to
touch ... through the endless tears
that you have tenderly kissed
away ... through the lonely
nights when I didn't think
I could take another
step ...

And now ...

I stand here hushed in the silence ...
so quiet it has become ... and as my
frightened heart races I call your name
once more ... waiting for you to answer

Yet ... I'm left with the deafening silence that
lingers in the stillness without your presence
