Subject: Stained Glass in a Winter's Blizzard

There's an ache that radiates
from within the quietest,
and most private parts of me
unseen, untouched by man

Like the wind-whipped air
that blows from the North
clawing at the heart that beats
in barely audible pulses

This ache, like no other
passes through with a shiver
that cacades down each vertibrae
leaving it's icy marks in it's wake

The faint sounds of howling
is heard off in the distance
and now echoes into the heart
of a woman now forlorn

The forboding blizzard
that tears at my soul
in menacing tones of regret
where sheets of ice form

An ache like no other
as the reality sinks deeper
searing like a hot iron
on the backhide of reality

Brandishing with distinction
the immeasurable pain
that now stamps my life
claiming the innocent

How on earth did I come to this?
Where hearth no longer flames
a golden warmth of dreams
that would carry me through winter

Yet, the sting of ice pellets
whips at my very being
the core of who I once was,
and who I dreamed I would be

Yet, the howling of distant
wolves, leaves an eerie
echo in the chambers of my heart
reminding me that dreams die

How is it, a woman sees love
through the stained glass of truths
that shatters in a chaotic frenzy
by a winter blizzard's mighty fist

In the middle of a frozen tundra
where all dreams are caked
with the harshest of ice drops
that flash freezes all good sense

There is no springtime that might
push to bring forth spring flowers
that would lap up the golden sun's rays
and be gently brushed by the promise
of a gentle summer's breeze

When what is left inside my heart
is the shards of stained glass
that cuts deeper at each thought
of those perilously lost moments
within frozen crystals of a blizzard
that rakes my soul

I understand that ache,
and can understand the depths
of your beautifully expressed heart,
can truly relate... this time of year
is always harder for me, with it being so cold,
dark and gray, it can take its toll.
Huggs to you Tammy, i am feeling your words deeply,
and i love your title, it's a poem in itself.

Tammy,

I am crazy busy today but, I will be back to award
this poem for all its beauty that shines through
the pain and darkness.

You did a wonderful job of unleashing deep felt
emotion and pain here.

I admire this poem and that's HUGE in my world
as you know.

((Janel))

This is the hardest time of year for many, and for each their own reasons I suppose. For me..If I could figure
out just how to combat it I would scream it from a huge
mountain top!

Thank you for being here and for feeling this so deeply.

Hugs,
Tammy

(((Andyman)))

I'm honored you know, that you would hold this piece in
such high esteem. That in itself unleashes a smile within
me.

**Sigh** But through every darkness there comes light, and THAT is exactly what I'm striving for. Thank you, your
words touch deeply and humble me.

Big Jug Hugs,
Tammy

Lovely ladies...Sasha and Jessica...

To both of you...thank you from my heartcore. I hate to think of those that actually feel this, and know it personally, but in reality, there are more that go through this than is known. **Sigh**
