Depths of morose

The sun is shining
brightly in the sky,
radiating its warmth
into my veins,
but I cannot feel
its promising sunbeams.

There isn't a single cloud
to block the light,
not even a whisper
of a billowing cirrus,
or even a sign
of a wallowing wisp.

Everything is clear
within the blue sky,
but over my head
is a veil of darkness
threatening to consume
my heart and soul.

I have no choice
but to breathe in its gloom,
and the more I draw in,
the more intense it becomes,
rapidly building stronger
much like a developing storm.

I feel so cold,
so empty and alone,
lost within this
solitary confinement,
trapped within a world
of abysmal depression.

There's an echo of despair
within my lifeless eyes,
along with these tears
spilling out of my heart,
mixing with the tide
of this oppressive affliction.

I crouch in the corner
within the depths of morose,
fading into the darkness,
I cease to exist,
starving for the light
and warmth of the sun.

The sun has now set
and nightfall has begun,
though the skies are clear,
there are no stars,
with the darkness so near
they're afraid to shine.

I listen quietly
to the silence of the night,
cursed by the darkness,
tormented by depression,
I am infinitely lost
within the depths of morose.

but I have to say, that although it is dark and pain filled, it is one of your best pieces that I have read, honeybunch..and I say that in all sincerity.....VERY well penned!!!
