Subject: Landon's screen persona v the ordinary 24/7 Joe

Michael Landon personified on screen the ideal 'man', in that Little House and Highway portrayed him as gentle,kind,loving,forgiving etc,etc,... but alas that was celuoid fantasy. In real life he drank, and smoked heavily, had 2 or 3 failed marriages and even in his will did not divide his estate equally between all his children, causing some resentment after his death. He obviously did not lead the angelic life of his screen parts in thes 2 series. He was just an ordinary man, although talented actor/producer, with the same weaknesses as all the rest of us, so lets not put him on a pedestal!
