Comfort of Friendship

He wraps
his arms
around her,
holding her close
against his chest,
he whispers softly
into her ears as he
glides his hand through
her hair, caressing
her gentle spirit,
rubbing
her back.

She leans
into him,
nestling her head
upon his shoulder,
holding him tight
within her arms,
drawing him near
to her heart
as she listens
to his
calming
voice.

He kisses
the top of
her head
and tenderly
reassures her
that all will be okay,
together they sway
back and forth,
dancing slowly
within the
melancholic
silence.

She presses
her body
tight against his,
clinging to him
for support
in her moment of need,
the tears fall
onto his shoulder
as she trembles
within the comfort
of his
arms.

He gently
strokes his hands
across her back,
soothing her
trembling
muscles
with his touch,
his spirit
embraces
her heart,
his heart warms
her soul.

She sighs
within his arms,
feeling protected
and loved,
no matter
what happens
in her life
she knows he'll
always be there,
and that's a
true comfort
in itself.
