Getting spanked is what she's used to. She knows what to expect and when it's over the tension goes away and the air is clear. Grounding on the other hand gives her a sense of brooding or stewing as you refer to it. It brings on resentment and feelings of ill will on her part. What I have done in a case like you write about is to give the spanking and add on to it loosing her cell for 3 days or no computer for 3 days. In my case it seems that the extra is there and is carried out and the spanking the preceeded it cleared the air and the fact that she can't have or do something mitigates the sting a little more. Seems to work for us.
