 Well, the camel's back really belongs to mom. So, from your daughter's perspective it is you that "suddenly" gets her spanking tool box out. But I quite agree that in a family there can be no iron-clad rules which say what "crimes" will be punished with spankings and which not. If we punish, it is more for attitude than for particular incidents, and regardless of what I said above about "suddenly" getting spanked, children do know how this works and do not normally regard a "build-up" spanking as unfair.
