This is an interesting question which I don't think there is an definitive answer. In my experience I can only give four indications. My bff is a true wimp, her really hard spankings just make me laugh and I can really blister her butt, but nothing like her mom does and she's been known to use a switch. My dad hardly ever spanked me but his hand was like an iron skillet. My mom was always the disciplinarian and when she beat your butt, you didn't sit for a couple of days.
As for my man, for such a peaceful, gentle, loving man with tender hands his spanks are amazing. He spanks (I think) differently for discipline than just an "I want a spanking" spanking. Believe me, when he has spanked you your butt is on fire and you feel it for at least a couple of days. But even his "I mean it" spankings he still has this gentleness and tenderness about him. He is amazing. It's very different than when my mom spanks. She is not gentle. I'm not saying she's not loving in her discipline, but it's not something you would ever fanasize about.

To expand on this it seems that moms typically use their hand and hairbrush and dads use a belt. That's what it seems anyway. Any thoughts on that?
