I flipped on KFAI on the way to the liquor store, and
heard this really great, really weird song. It was
somehow familiar... sure enough, it was Gary and the
MONKS! It was part of a Spectors interview - and I was
excited to hear that they were playing that friday at
1st ave.

The Spectors first song absolutely rocked the crowd.
Everyone was groovin'. But when Gary hit the stage a
few songs later, you could feel it get just a little
more intense, a little heavier... it was a real treat!
That combination of a chugging groove with Gary's
vocal phrasing (was it hillbilly voodoo or what?) just
mesmerized the room. Gary, they were in the palm of
your hand. Hats off.
