I only know what was reported in the press here in the UK. It seems that the mother was bringing the boy up as a girl after the father left them but he seems to have found out what was happening and used this to gain custody of the child (and presumably has since returned the child to living as a boy).
Sadly, the courts in the UK as well as social services are prone to categorising any mother who feminises her child as being in the wrong, and taking the child away from her. The press also weem to be happy to regard the mother negatively as well so it is hard to judge these cases objectively from what has been reported. I imagine that right now many mothers with feminine boys in the UK will be feeling worried and insecure right now, whatever the rights and wrongs of this particular case are.
Sad but something we still have to live with when such issues are poorly understood or totally misunderstood by the public and the media. We have come a long way in getting better understanding in recent years through the bravery of some families in publicising their situations, but sadly not far enough in my view!
