Torrey, I'm glad to hear it went well for your child. Being out in public the first few times is always nerve-wracking for someone who is trying to pass, I experienced it myself when I was a teenager. I'm sure it made it easier being away from home as the concern of someone who knows you finding out drops off. Little things like using the women's restroom don't seem like they're a big deal, but I'm sure it was for your child. From before we start school, boys and girls are separated and we have different restrooms and there gets to be a mystique about the girl's restroom for boys. Once you go in, you find there really isn't anything special, but it often takes a bit of nudging to get kids past some of the hurdles. I know it took my mom laying out a skirt and blouse for me to wear at Christmas time to get me to dress openly in front of family beyond immediate family, or telling me to wear a sundress on summer weekends when we were going out to breakfast to get used to being out in public. Once you get past those stumbling blocks, you gain confidence and it gets easier.
