Hi Kristin: I disliked sports, and enjoyed playing dressup and with dolls when I was six or eight too. So I think I have a good sense of how your boys feel, and why.

It seems as if your boys have sent you some signals, so I would say, certainly they would be happier as girls (or are at least anxious to try being girls). They need your approval and guidance. I hope you move forward with this.

Children should experience the full range of possibilities that life has to offer, and be encouraged to find their true selves. It sounds like your in-laws are harsh, fear-filled, judgmental people, so I would ignore them. They live vicariously, and they want your boys to be the same.
