Subject: Question For Parents: How And Why Did You Decide To Accept Your Daughters?

Hello All -- In case you don't know me my name is Aelita. I've told my story on this forum before but basically I was just like one of your daughters -- except my parents didn't accept me and eventually forced me out of their lives.

My mother first took me to a psychologist when I was eight or nine years old -- long ago when Bush Snr was president. Back then the Internet was just becoming commercially available for home use and there was no World Wide Web yet. The only girl born with the wrong parts I'd ever seen or heard of back then was Caroline Cossey -- the famous British model "Bond Girl" who was on CNN. In my mother's mind I had to be "delusional" when I told her I was a girl and kept insisting that I should not have boy parts and that I should have a vagina. The psychologist told her that I was for some reason just made like this and I couldn't be "fixed" and to wait and see how I turned out. My mother did put me in gender-netural women's shoes and clothes (I'm exceptionally tall and was an adult women's size at age ten) but she kept doctor shopping to find someone who would have me committed to an asylum but none of them would allow it. By the time I was thirteen I had shoulder length hair and small breasts and looked like a tall, skinny teen girl. My parents freaked out when people started to refer to me as their daughter and forced me to cut my hair, wear ill-fitting boys jeans, play little league football, and so on. Things went down and down from there and when I left home for university I wasn't allowed to return after the first summer break.

I've always wondered why my parents were like this. Religion couldn't have been the only reason. I can remember my mother arguing with the psychologists and my father and saying things such as "we can't have this in our family, we have a position to uphold in the community," etc. It seems strange to go through all the effort to raise a child and then completely abandon them later as if they were a war criminal or child molester.

Most people are still in the "if I catch my boy in a dress I'll take them out to the woodshed and give them a good whipping" category but you didn't do that. Please tell me your story if you can.
