Dear mates,
This text is very interesting because it brings an important issue of
the second language learning. While learning L2 the students have to
develop the ability to use the language appropriately interpreting
the indirect intention that is behind the communication in a
sociocultural context. The major component of pragmatic competence is
the correct use of the speech acts in many occasions and the
appropriate selection of the linguistic forms by the speaker. This is
the reason why teachers have to teach much more than the language
itself they have to teach what is beyond language, it means cultural
behavior, beliefs and cultural constraints in order to avoid
misunderstandings and rudeness.
We would like to congratulate Carmen and Luana on their interesting
and helpful presentation!
