Subject: Good Places in Town Back Then

Buying the first new sneakers of the year at Herman's. That always smelled of wool and leather gloves. Had to get my white Keds!

How about Lord's MENS Store. Only men's items and they were really good too. I always bought my father a bow tie for his birthday there. When I was away at nursing school I came home and wanted to buy some "wifebeater" white tee shirts in small mens to tie dye and wear myself. Well Mr Lord almost refused to sell them to me when he found out I was buying them for myself. How did he know that? Because he knew my father only word white short sleeve undershirts in medium!

Blois's drug store ice cream counter with the red cushioned stools and watching Mr Blois put my sundae togther!

My parents were in a supper club with the Bloises, Hooks, Delongs, Newells, Nasons, Bullards, Aldens, Wells, Kimballs, Haywards, and Boroughs, and many others over the years. When it was the Blois's turn to host they always supplied every ingredient you could imagine for sundaes. That was the entire meal and it was the only supper of the year all the kids were invited to. Oh man was that the best, all you could eat of any sundae(s) you wanted to make!!

Remember the winter Bobby Manchester broke his leg tobogganing down the short steep side of the Country Club in the moon light?

Ice skating on the res and hearing the great thunderous cracking across the entire lake which seems huge at the time.
