To everyone who knew and loved Kathy.

I just thought I would update you a little about Kathy. I was with her and was blessed to be there to help her through a very difficult time. She had e-mailed Bob and I with her news while we were on a trip to Alaska and so when we got home we went up and spent time with her. I went up again and brought her home from the hospital and stayed with her until the end. She never really accepted her illness even at the end. She had it through her whole body and lived four months.
I have had a very hard time with all of this but she is at peace now. The family is suppose to have celebration of life sometime the week of her birthday (June 10th) I will keep you informed in case anyone wishes to come. The kids wanted to do a family and friends at her house with her garden in bloom. They had a local open house the week after she died.
The hospital staff where she worked had a memorial service in the hospital chapel.
You are right our lives are very short and we never know what is around the next corner. I will miss Kathy so much because she was just like a sister to me. I will always treasure my friendships more and more now never take anyone for granted. Patty also helped Kathy by being there for me.

Susan, thank you for sharing this sad story with us. We all feel terrible about the loss of Kathy. She was everyone's good friend and always had a big smile on her pretty face. I do hope that overall she had a very happy life, and it is comforting to know that you, as a special friend, were there with her to the very end.

Please know that it was the loss of Kathy that inspired us to reconnect with each other and get this website and related correspondence going. I'm just sad that it happened too late for her, as she would have loved it. She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Thank-you for the story about Kathy. Since I lived about a block from her, we often walked to school together and after I got my drivers license, she would ride to school with me every so often. Her passing was very sad news for me.
