Subject: Shocking low numbers in Ulster

The standard is high, but the participation rate is rock bottom. You mean to tell me in the entire Province of Ulster, within the country of the birthplace of Irish dancing, there are only 40-50 dancers in the biggest age groups and not more than 10 in many of the others?

Should not a world qualifying event attract thousands of dancers across the region? Does CLRG not recognize that their mismanagement has driven away and excluded families worldwide? They have allowed corruption and cheating to poison the competitive scene and have made the costs to participate too high for the average family. It is sad when a single solo dress costs more than class tuition and workshops for an entire year.

Maybe CLRG is fine with letting Irish dance get smaller and smaller as long as the few people they have keep pumping massive amounts of money into it. Maybe it is worth it to them to let the corruption happen so the globes pass between the few mega schools who fund the majority of the operation.

But CLRG has lost its way as an advocate for Irish dance. They are no longer about spreading this beautiful dance form across the world and are content with the elitist, insular, money-centered farce they've become.
