Secondary qualifier is a term of art that refers to the national or continental WQ event. Every dancer has three chances to qualify for worlds: regional Oireachtas, nationals and the international qualifer (which is All Irelands).

Majors in a colloquial term that refers to all of these events, plus other big events, like All Scotlands and those events in the UK that rotate which one is the National qualifier. Some people think this is wrong and that major refers only to WQ events. But those people are in the minority and you generally only find them on voy.
