Em Índia o festival famoso é chamado "Deepavali" que significa "o festival de luz". É um festival antigo muito tradicional. A filosofia atrás do festival é o mau demônio foi matado por deus e assim as luzes trazem o fim da escuridão em vida. A tradição é as luzes são acendidas ao redor da casa com lâmpadas pequenas com óleo em xícaras pequenas. No dia festivo a família inteira reune-se e tem primeira manhã banho sagrado com óleo e champô e visita os templos com todos os membros de família. Os membros de família distribuirão o doce um entre o outro e a seus vizinhos abriga. O festival é dependente muito cultural, reunião de família alegre e muito amável.
