River Oaks is not improving it is only staying the same. The cities around us are improving but we are stuck in a rut. The reason we are not improving is because our City Council people are not serious about their positions. This is a hobby/ego booster for most of the Council Members. When I see yard signs all over the city with Council Members pictures on them I think, What has this person done for our city? Well, I can't think of anything. This is not something new, it has been going on for at least 25 years that I know about. The Candidates that can make a difference can not get elected because the hobbyists and their friends have the seats locked up. Trying to read notes and get things together 15 minutes before the meeting starts will get you into this position. The problem is not the economy, it's the lack of effort from our City Leaders. The Hobbyists need to go and we need a fresh new Council. We need a Council that is not afraid to say YES to business instead of always looking for a reason to say no.
