As El helped her up she heard him mention the Challenger eyes flying to the beast of black as she finally recognized it as the car she’d borrowed for her joy ride up here just the other day. ”He’s not here is he?” Worry evident, fearing the giant of man was standing to the side somewhere scared to see the pity in his eyes or worse the condescending nature of a parent. The fact the car was here meant Sphinx at least knew she was gone; it’d only be a matter of time before the rest did and that Elden had come after her. The idea of facing all those faces, well meaning and concerned, had her quaking. El’s demand finally reached her and she shook her head, getting a stern look from the EMT when she did so. ”But El…” The fight dying from her soon after it’d started, shoulder slumping as she simply moved away, tucking herself into the passenger side of the car and closing the door. Derek had watched her while she moved to the car, though he’d kept quiet, the sheriffs threat enough to keep him silent for now…though he’d be sure to sign like a canary on his followers when he got to the station. If he ever got the chance he’d come back for her, the one who’d gotten away and caused the downfall to a good thing he had going. He’d make her pay. He just didn’t realize he’d be doing it alone, if he’d do it at all, Jimmy and Mark were out…done with this game of how many virgins could they capture. It wasn’t worth getting their ass handed to them as it had been. Sitting in the Challenger, Des would know none of this, she had missed the deadly look and she’d missed the conversation of Elden’s with the EMT. She was already closing her eyes to drift off to sleep, despite the EMT’s warning when El opened the driver’s door and slid inside with the backpack from earlier. Here she made a final little plea for him to be looked at, ”You should get stitches.” The only thing she could muster before she gave up and let him drive the truck down the hill and towards the Complex, looking out the window but never really seeing anything at all. |
