Hey Rick--god to hear from you. I have some answers to your questions and you can sort them out.
Yeah Joel broke up with "his" girlfriend right after he discovered that she snug in the locker room undetected and witnessed him getting his bare ass paddled in front of the baseball team by coach for lying to him, after he ditched and left me and two team capts. holding the the towel snapping incident in our faces. He started it, left before Coach could catch him and later "fess up" he started it and deserved to get paddled bare ass like us.
His girlfriend admitted to him she saw the whole thing, him before, during and after the paddling, which means she saw his "junk" up front and his bare ass behind, etc. He thought she would spread it around what she saw, even though Joel has nothing to be ashamed of, he's like the rest of us guys and has nothing to be ashamed of for size, etc. if you know what I mean?
Joel is accepted by his Jock buddies, and me more as a "little bro" if you want me to say it, I did! He has told me many times he wished he had "Big bro" growing up and I guess we took to each other as friends and feel the same.
I know Joel is a great athlete and gives l0l% of himself to win in and as a team member you couldn't find a greater guy who will sacrifice so other fellow team members look better then him. He's busted his ass off for people, coaches and players and loves to win, and bring pride to his school, community and his parents.
Speaking of them, Joel's folks has told me many times they wished I could have been a biological son and brother to them and Joel, and my folks have said the same about Joel.
Back to the ex-girl of Joel. When he broke-up with her she couldn't understand, hey she broke the rules and snuck off limits into the lockeroom to see Joel paddled. That was wrong, what did she gain by it, only to be the only girl to see Joel like he was and if she wanted to "brag" about it she could, but what would that gain her? It would show how stupid she was not to respect him in a bad situation he didn't care to be in, but wanted to show responsibilty to admitting his wrong and take the paddling like a man.
After the break up it happened our basecoach asked Joel and me if we wanted summertime jobs as baseball instructors at the YMCA YOUTH CAMP for baseball to help teach young kids about baseball. That was fulltime job, earning money for college.
I didn't have alot of time with my girlfriend, she had interests for this summer so she and I put things on the back burner so to speak. In spare time Joel and I were almost altogether and didn't see girls. If Joel had "hooked-up" with a girl this summer I would have stepped aside and allowed for him and whoever to do whatever they wanted to do, even date, etc. It didn't happen. Look at OLD POSTS in this forum and you'll see alot of "stuff" Joel and I did this summer besides the camp. Our parents even had us all go on vacation together for about two weeks, so there was not alot of time for Joel to find another girl.
I thought getting back to school he might, now given both of us the honor to be on homecoming court together I'm back with my girlfriend Julie a member on court, and Joel has been introduced to a "special" girl on court as his partner to the homecoming dance, besides the halftime intros we received last night Oct. 2 at the football game. I saw a special twinkle in Joel's eyes when he was introduced to the girl and he had that with the ex-girl, so maybe something will develop beyond after the dance for Joel?
AS for the "talks" you asked and suggested I've had with Joel. We've done'em in the past and present as "big bro" to "little bro" and Joel and I have tried to help each other out when has a problem in no matter what it might be. Most of the time its school and sports. As I mentioned, Joel loves to be competive. He' s tried to out do me in some sports, but because of his lack in size, he's not been able to, but for a guy that gives his all he sure is competive with anyone else!
He does a guy like me proud to call him my buddy, my friend, and I wished my real brother. So if Joel just needs a good "talking to" we've done that, and if he needs his "butt kicked" we've done that to, and he's done both to me I will admit. We've even done the "paddling thing" like you and David have done to help each other out. Look for a separate post about the pre-homecoming paddling we gave each other. When other things weren't working ou this week for him or me to stay focuesed to prepare for the homecoming game we decided maybe we each needed our butts pounded for a wakeup call.
That wakeup call resulted in Joel and I helping our football team win a 48-38 homecoming game victory last night. Man, if you've never felt what a homecoming victory feels like and contribute to it, then you've missed something in life.
So Rick, dude, I hope I've answered your questions? Your a great friend and buddy to Joel and me. Stay in contact.
