Subject: Reply to Joel & Kyle

Hey bros, just back to town & when opened message board, saw some messages & though most are from you Joel, I'm answering first something to both of you that I want said & resolved--ok?

You two guys are the closest pair of dudes I think there could be not being biological brothers, so it burns my ass some hearing Kyle suggesting (1) your dad should kick your ass over slam dunk damage; (2) that you should be set up somehow on April 1 to get your ass school paddled.

First: Joel, put the backboard out of your mind. As you said, you were not hot-dogging or deliberate & bet there was no thought in your coach, their coach, dad, school or anyone's mind other than unfortunate accident. Kyle, you know such talk gets Joel unfocused & you were not doing him or the team any good with such BS--so cool it. If anyone was holding you at fault, coach would've chewed ass that night in locker room & dad would've tanned your ass once home. That is why schools carry insurance for accidental liability & damage--understand?--case closed.

Second: As for April 1, that was a day a year ago that changed your life Joel & in many ways probably for the better. Likely your ass was overdue at 17 & a year later, we can confirm it didn't break or melt under the heat to the seat of your jeans. I don't recall a guy I grew up with who didn't need his ass beat a time or two & they all survived. The only damn fool on April 1 will be you Joel if you go through with Kyle's plan to celebrate the date in the office. Kyle, if you set Joel up in even a slight way to screw up & get sent to the office, you are no bro or friend. All this talk Kyle tells me your ass is the one itching to get busted. As Keith suggested, if Joel goes to the office cause of you Kyle on April 1, your ass better be on the firing line too next to him. If not & I was Joel, I'd round up Sean, Cody, Luke & a few others & drag your ass into the first hallway john & give you a payback like even your dad never gave you. So buck up you two and be bros & buds & responsible seniors. enough said--ok?

Didn't plan a weekend ass chewing but big brothers are called upon sometimes, just ask Dave. Now sorry the team lost in semis but can be proud of your post season & hold heads high. I'm proud of you guys.

I wasn't the smartest twig on the tree in school so I knew I'd have to work my butt off both with grades & find funds for college & paperboy route was an early option at 12. The money wasn't great but no 12 y/o is out to join the millionaire's club. It put jingle in my pocket & my college savings acct. Got b-day money & allowance too that ended up part in pocket & part in bank. I was not the jock like you dudes so no young revenue source from dad Joel & as for grades, I never got punished unless I was screwing around & failed nor paid for good grades either. After school & weekend jobs, plus chores at home, was an expectation for both college money & my own character.

Yes Joel, the HS max was 10 & guys got them including both Dave & I over school scuffles (principal said fights) along with the other dude involved straight across the seat of tight britches & for sure my 15 y/o 10th grade bare ass got the belt once home. You may not want to sit for a few hours but a guy's ass can take 10 & it is a real wake-up call to remember. You both want to try out 10 in the office before graduation across jeans for a "senior moment" & then take a note to your dads??

As for grandparents, mom talked dad's folks into coming & tentatively bus arrives Tuesday I think I heard. Nanny & Gramps (they don't mind the names) will be our house guests in the apartment rather than at folk's house. We'll space out again the twins in Dave's room & I'll bunk with him during visit & give them my room & double bed & the bathroom off that room. Plenty of time then to visit & get better bonded, take the photos you suggested Joel & I'd like to find out, if not too embarrassing a talk, the story behind the rift between dad & his folks--suspect it might have been the trips to garage to meet the strap. It will be a big & grand Easter I suspect with both sets of grandparents, Jeanne back with her mom Saturday, Mollie & her folks.

Going to close here & dudes, if big bro pi--ed either of you off with opening remarks, chalk it up to what big bro felt was a deserved ass chewing out of brotherly concern & care & want you both hanging tight as best buds/bros.
