Just a follow up.

We gathered at my sister's house for a BBQ and the highlight of my day was getting to hold my great nephew for the first time. Unfortunately, by the time we were ready to head over to the facility where my mom is, the baby was getting fussy after a long day so my niece wanted to leave so my mom didn't get to see the baby on this visit. My sister showed her some pictures of him and my mom was happy to see those. Among the trinkits that my sister sent home with them is a stuffed football with the words "My First Football" on it. I told my niece's husband to put a football in his crib when he puts him down at night to get him thinking about it; that way he can pick up that football and think about it and wonder what he is supposed to do with it. If all goes according to plan, my niece and her husband will be busy on Friday Nights in the Fall when he hits High School.

I hope those of you on this forum who have never held a baby before will accept my challenge to ask your parents how they felt when they held you for the first time. I would be interested in reading what your parents told you.
Feel free to post.
