My Dear Gijs (how very formal we are today, it must be because it's Sunday!) The tests are very simple things like "following" the reaction to the stranger walking away, does the puppy follow? Does the pup try to jump up and nip? Right down to not following at all. The dominance test is done in two sections: gently rolling the puppy onto it's back and restraining with one hand for 30 seconds and then lifting the puppy just off the ground and suspending it in between interlaced fingers under its tummy for 30 seconds. The reaction is then noted, anything from struggling and flailing, settling, eye contact etc.
All the tests are available from loads of internet websites, just google "Volhard puppy aptitude test" and you can see all the testing procedures and the interpretation of the results. It's quite interesting to do with a litter of pups but as the timing of the testing is quite important I'm not sure if the results could be interpreted in the same way for an older dog. I don't know of any other tests readily available to monitor ongoing training except the standard Canine Good Citizen and the American TTS (ATTS). Try googling those and you will find lots of info on temperament testing, unfortunately most tests are very broad in nature and not specific to Boerboels so the results do have to be interpreted in relation to the breed.

I hope this helps.

Have fun!
Jenny
