Hello Christel,

Let's say in the past not everyone was happy to have me in the vicinity and I did not always know exactly what I was up against. So there have been some risks of being shot at, being stabbed or being beaten. I was in those situations in order to get some income, not because I liked it. I am not a brave person so I wanted to take precautions and reduce those risks in order to come home safe and sound again. But please don't think of me as some sort of troubleshooter like you see in the movies as those caracters attract far too much attention to be really effective in real life situations. In my opinion failing to prepare is prepairing to fail in any situation and finshing the job was more important than playing the brainless heroe in the situations in which I have used my dog. Compare it to a fire extuingisher: good to have around at all times but statistical chances are it will never actually do what it was designed to do. I did not want to take unnecessary risks with my dogs so I mostly used them as a sort of decoy and divert the attention of the other party from the real attack. Like when you have a knife in your hands in close combat it is usually better to attack with for example your leg because most adversaries focus on the knife. As you probably know the use of intelligence contributes a lot in winning your battle so I have always tried to observe, think and act in that order. In my opinion most dogs are useless against a determined foe who knows to deal with their weak spots. Fortunately for most dogs the opposing force usually knows nothing about dogs. Just a guess: I think for more and better dog - related information on this subject one should contact Norman David Epstein. I myself am not a very experienced dog trainer but try to improve myself. Yours kindly, Gijs
