That sounds pretty serious Gijs. Body armour for dogs, don't think I've ever heard of that before. May I ask for what purpose the dog had to wear body armour? Were you and he often in dangerous situations through your profession or something similar?

As for firearms, I don't think they give so much as a "good training opportunity", more like sudden death, if I may speak frankly. Besides I believe dogs would be far more useful in physical close combat than against any kind of ranged weapons.
Having said that, mine are my companions and friends first and foremost and the two dogs I have today would probably not even protect me at all in any sort of threat situation. I still love them though.
