There is paper work that has to be processed at custums before you can take your puppy. The pups are picked up at air cargo and that is not the same place that baggage comes out for human passengers. Air cargo is often a different building from the terminal. The paper work that needs to be processed is best left to the air cargo people. Sometimes they send you to get the paper work processed at Custums. If you have to do this be ready for some questions and have the correct answers or they will get all tense and it will take a lot longer. For instance if you intend on breeding and the paper work from SA says for breeding then when they ask you is this dog for breeding simply say yes. Don't say well I have to wait until xrays, etc....That just throws them off and makes them suspicious. When they say oh goodness no rabies shot, you say yes that is right the pup is to young for a rabies shot but here is the Mothers record of rabies shot. You might be given a form to sign saying you will quarantine this pup at your home until a rabies shot or 30days? You can remind them in a FRIENDLY way that pups are protected, from the mother dog, from rabies at this age if you feel they need to hear this. They often call a vet to confirm this. It is so much easier to let the air cargo people do this since they know them and you can avoid being grilled by an agent.
