Oh, shipping crate?? Do tell!! I do have my suspicions, though!

Well Bear's crate was a Vari Kennel. Sandra can probably refresh my memory, but I believe he was borderline with his weight and Sandra went with the larger one. He was 12 1/2 weeks when he flew out to us. The kennel looked like a giant cat carrier and it was very roomy for him--perfect for the long flight. When we were in the cargo area I saw the workers bringing Bear's crate on the hand truck and it looked so big. All I could think was how big did Sandra say this pup was???

I'm sure you won't have a problem fitting it in your van. At the time I had a mid-size sedan. It was a tight fit, but the kennel fit across the back seat, but forget seeing through the back windshield. Bear sat on my lap all the way from Newark, NJ to CT--it was great!

It's definitely something you can use if it's the Vari type kennel. I think I remember seeing pictures on some website of someone unpacking a Boerboel pup, but it looked like it came in a wooden make-shift crate. Bear's crate was the perfect size for crate training and I'm glad I didn't buy a large permanent crate for him to grow into because it turned out there was never any need to crate this dog. It was good Sandra went with the big one, it really worked out well for him.

The crate Sweet Pea came in was considerably smaller, poor girl. And she flew out to us at the same age Bear did. When she arrived at our local airport the man behind the counter was outraged that the other airport let her fly in a crate so small. So I would say when in doubt, go bigger.

Assuming this info is for you, ;-) will you be going to Newark for this pup? If so, I can give you a few pointers. It was shell shock for us, especially after only having to deal with the small airport in CT for Sweet Pea.

This sounds very exciting, please fill us in!
