I had to up-date my vacination record for school (I never got shots since I was 4 or 5, don't remember them), I think it was DBT booster. The nurse was nice till I had to lower my panties for the shot, I told my mother I can't do that, I would just die, guess I got by with it, never had tol do it since? Author: Jeff [ Edit | View ] Date Posted: Monday, May 28, 2012, 09:21: pm Hi Victoria Yes,I can relate to that,if memory serves me correctly,I was around 9yrs old or so,anyhow,I was suffering from Bronchitis and a pretty good sinus infection,after the doctor examined me,he told mom he was going to put me on a weeks worth of oral antibiotics,plus have the nurse give me an antibiotic shot to jump start the treatment. At that point,I had a sinking feeling in my stomach and became frightened,as he told mom the shot would have to go in my bottom. I was sitting on the exam table in only my white briefs,the syringe and needle looked huge in the nurse's hand,the nurse asked me to remove my briefs then lay face down on the table. Well I refused,so mom walked over to the table and as mom tried to remove my briefs,I grabbed the waistband to try to hold them up,at that point,the nurse helped mom by grabbing my hands so mom could remove my briefs. Boy was that shot painful! The needle felt like a spike going in,then came the intense burning from the antibiotic,I screamed like a banshee. My bottom was sore for 3 days after the shot! Looking back on it, this would indicate to me that I was sitting on the exam table and going to get the shot in the arm. But while the nurse went to get a new syringe, my mother pulled my undies down and gave me a short spanking. When the nurse returned, I got the shot in my bottom still lying over my mother's lap. First of all, it would have done me no good, because I would have got the shot anyway. Second of all, I would have got a spanking, and spankings were way more painful than a shot. I am surprised that any parent would allow a child to swat things out of nurses hands or flat refuse to do what they are told. I got all my shots in the butt growing up, all the way to age 18 and they rarely ever hurt after the nurse taught me to relax my bottom. I guess now they give shots in the leg instead. I grew up in the 70s, and it was much as you described - the doc was an authority figure, and you didn't question him. A 24 year-old co-worker of mine once mentioned to me privately that he'd been to see a doctor, who told him he'd be getting a shot, and asked him to pull his pants and shorts down. He (co-worker) flat out refused, and after some discussion, received two injections, one in each arm. He complained that the shots and the bill (double what it would have been) hurt, but I guess his pride was saved. Personally, I would have done what the doctor said. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I actually was more scared of getting shots in the arm than in the butt as a child. I got one shot in the arm as a child, a booster shot of some kind. It hurt worse than any shot I had ever had, and I screamed my head off. The nurse commented she should have given it in my bottom instead, and my mom agreed and asked if she would give them all in my bottom in the future. I went to the same pediatrician up to age 18, and got every shot in the butt from that day on. The embarrassment of showing my butt was better than the embarrassment of screaming and crying, and even though I sometimes cried from shots in the butt, it was never like that. I didn't get a shot in the arm again until I got a tetanus booster at 20 after cutting myself on a rusty bucket, and that shot hurt like mad, as well, I couldn't lift my arm without wincing for 2 days. I normally had to pull everything down to my ankles and bend over the receptionist's lap for injections, which I dreaded because I thought getting shots back there childish, especially with a girl watching me get them in the bare bottom. I fancied this girl and desperately craved her respect so I didn't want her even to know that I got injections in the bottom, much less have her see me get one there. I was so frightened that I couldn't even admire her shapely legs without fearing having to view them from across her lap for a shot. By the time the doctor summoned me, I was so pent-up with fearful emotion that his mere mention of a shot made me burst into tears (doubtless making me appear even more childish to the girl than I would have seemed bare-bottomed across her lap). The doctor relented and prescribed pills but they made me sick, so I had to return for the injection anyway. There was a problem once at a restaurant I ate at and everyone was told to get a Hepatitis A shot. I went expecting to get the vaccine in my arm but was told it was a gamma globulin shot and would be injected in my butt. It really didn't hurt. One of them was a booster shot, the nurse said it was going to be given on the butt. I told my guardian (grandma) I was not comfortable with that and guess what it didn't happen c: I got it in the arm. I honestly dont see why they want to give booster shots on the but I guess they think it's less painful that way but really it's not it's the same arm or but.... My Guardian doesn't believe in using force (she knows holding kids down for vaccinations other medical procedures ect... can seriously traumatize them so I was a pretty lucky kid I got to make a lot of my medical decisions from a young age... My mom told me not to take my shirt off since I burned quite easily. After a good 1 1/2 hours, I thought the sun had started to set so I pealed off my shirt and continued playing in the water. Little did I know, I had exposed my sensitive skin to the harmful rays of the sun for another two hours. When we got back, I was feeling sick. A couple kids didn't believe me and said they were REALLY sick. When I awoke the next morning, I had a VERY high fever and water blisters all over my back with one HUGE one on each shoulder. My mom was called and took the bus to take me to the doctor. He prescribed an injection with some white fluid in it. It looked like milk. The nurse asked where I wanted it. Needless to say, I was in a PUBLIC health clinic and there were a number of other people getting shots all in one room. As the nurse rubbed my mussel with the alcohol swab, a little girl (about 5) stood there looking at me waiting for a scream. Once the needle was in, she started extracting the liquid and then I knew why she has asked where I wanted it! It felt like the old style of dental novacane! I almost blacked out from it. Still, I wasn't about to expose my backside to any nurse in front of so many people. I think the little girl was disappointed that I didn't scream out.
