Not so much optional, but sometimes written into the specs.
My '78 fury had a brace similar to the transverse roof rib spotwelded in above the windshield and running back to the center. WV never spec'ed that because they had the Aerodynics with the "Death Ray" spotlight. What you could do is run a piece of 1/16th sheet steel from the windshield frame back to the transverse rib. Spot weld it to the structure and make sure it is tight against the outer skin. This would not be out of line restoration wise,
since it is a modification that a lot of installation shops made for themselves if the car did not have the factory bracing. What are you doing the car as, if not a WV car?
