I only use on a limited patrol basis but it is comfortable, has auto, auto transfer case, a/c, stereo radio, cloth seats a step up from the basic truck. It rides and handles better than the Explorer and has come in handy on many a winters night. The only mistake was not having the extra cab to put stuff but that was solved with the outside bed tool box. We find ours is handy for traffic, weather, parade, crowd, and other emergencies. You can dump in a bunch of horses, cones, flares and other stuff. Of course retrieving the stuff is a breeze. The firearms guys like it for range duty too.

I had the opportunity to purchase an extra cab (step side) for the F.D. for the Asst. Chief and that vehicle has given us good service. It was a 98 leftover and so far has only had service for an alternator upgrade, tires and regular service. He has plenty of room for his gear. By having the pickup on a scene it can serve as an aux vehicle for picking up stuff scattered on the fire ground.
