In reply to: Bearhawke in Az (where there ARE still 1994-96 Caprices STILL in service) 's message, "Bryan: point taken, sir....................but, those 1991+ Caprices in particular will be gone sooner than anybody wants to admit to...........and will indeed qualify as 20+ YO vehicles in less than 8 years.................and will be damn near impossible to find............as it stands: the first 1991 big Chevy's came out in early 1990...............over 12 years ago! And, to be honest, IMHO; one would be wise in stockpiling 'police' only parts for the 1990's cars.............in particular the Caprice. Hell, it has been out of production for well over 5 years now." on 19:27:52 08/28/02 Wed

Take into consideration that a great majority of the motoring public has no idea of the difference between the 1991 and 1996 body styles and wouldn't know if the car is 6 or 10 years old. If one was in your rearview mirror on the freeway and you were zipping along at about 7 over the limit, you'd slam on your brakes and move over, not study it and wonder if it's an in-service older unit from the motor pool or a car collector's "restored" vehicle.

And let me go back to the whole car show idea again. Have you been to a regular car show where there are old Chevelles, Corvettes, vintage T-Birds, Packards, Ramblers and then some guy with a 1994 Explorer with signs, placards and Armor-Alled tires? Of course not. Sure the Explorer may look nice and like-new, but it's certainly not restored. Car shows are to showcase the cars that you just don't see around much anymore. If you want to see a gathering of shiny late-model cars, go to the nearest used car lot.
