Grainy its crazy but sadly you are right. After 9/11 there was a whole flurry of activity involving genealogical information that was available. Terrorists were going to get vital birth & death records and make all kinds of identification and create new identity's. Several state legislatures passed laws preventing getting information from legitimate family researchers. Internet sites were taken down, etc. all it did was deprive people of getting information on dead ancestors. It was ridiculous and more than anything drew attention to a non-problem. These so called politicians kinda forgot about cemeteries where the info is carved in stone and easier to read. Thankfully they didn't pass a law making them off limits. Well after almost a year, they finally realized what a farce they created and repealed laws here and there. The morale of the story is if a criminal wants the info their going to get it no matter. Heck they don't have to buy a police car, they can just pickup a taxi and slap decals on it. It seems responsible people get penalized, while the offenders get away with anything and adding politicians to the mix only make everything FUBAR.
