Are we talking about your penchant for buying a 3 year-old vehicle at auction and just driving it as a daily driver and keeping it mechanically "up" for as long as you own it?

Because I think the point Greg has tried to make is that against the people who pick up a restored or pristine 30 year-old, marked police car and lock it away in some dusty garage or barn until it rots away. Or like the guy he described in Chicago who has three (or however many) once-pristine CHP cars and now uses them as garage shelving but won't bring them to the summer show because there might be "salt on the road".

I agree with you, to each his own and the owner of a car is free to do with it what he pleases. But I do understand Greg's point, that being; what a waste of a good ANTIQUE car.

You see, I don't think you;ve explained your case very well. At least, I don't understand where you are at. If you happen to own five 1970s ex-police cars that you use for daily drivers, it would be nice to see them irrespective of their marked or unmarked status. If that's the case, would you REALLY be so selfish that you wouldn't spend some of those "hard earned dollars" on a 1/4 tank of gas to go to a local show?

Now, on the other hand, if the cars you are talking about are nothing more than 1995 Caprices and Crown Vics turned daily drivers, I don't blame you for staying home. I wouldn't show my face either. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed driving those, too, but I wouldn't think of entering one in a show.
