After I finished sifting through the spelling errors to decode your message, I read it again.

As I said a few days ago, I don't entirely disagree with you. Every issue can have multiple points of view. Neither is right and neither is wrong.

"I only said that showing my car isn't all that important."
Maybe not to you it isn't. But to a great many people across the county and overseas it is. I'm not at these car shows all by myself you know. There are also two national clubs for people with police cars. Does that mean we devote our life's work to these things? Hardly. We're policemen, firemen, accountants, mechanics or whatever our careers have made us. Just as other people get together and go league bowling on Friday nights, people with restored emergency vehicles get together a few times in the summer.

"He wrapped himself in notion that showing you cars somehow honors the brave people you patrol our streets, fight fires and provide emergency medical treatment."
Sorry, but that wasn't me.

"I never thought of putting shields and lights on them. I never intended to show them"
That's fine. They're your cars. Do whatever you want with them. I again refer back to the many people who have thought of it. Does that make them better than you? No. It just means that maybe they get out a little more often.

"In the end, no minds were changed, but really needed to be. I was only asking for tolerance of other points of view about the hobby. The pope of police cars
has excommunicated me for this."

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. You seem to have forgotten that this is a message board on the Internet where the people who attend the car shows hang out, so you pretty well brought this on yourself. I just happen to be the type of person who's not afraid to speak up when I have a difference of opinion with someone. You're not the first person I've taken to task and I'm sure you won't be the last.

Our opinions were voiced. Were views changed? I doubt it. Whose really needed to be? I'm fine with a difference of opinion between us. It only seems to bother you.

And just what have you been "excommunicated" from? You said yourself you're not ever going to go to a show, so no one will miss you there.

I wish you'd stick around here at the board a little while longer. You'll see that there are real flag waving Americans just like you and me who have vintage police cars that are all fixed up and they actually enjoy getting together at events and just sitting around talking about things.

I have consulted with the Pope in Rome, He was sort of mad, apparently it's 3 am there right now, but he agreed that you should forward your money to me to help my parish(you may have seen me as a guest commentator on Saturday Night Live (NT)Father Guido Sarducci20:16:43 09/12/02 Thu
