Alex Thompsons >>angels that is a joke!!!! I certainly don't see the people he has worked with jumping ship so they must think their money is well spent. If we only want to judge success on a State or national winner then should we question every single director? We have only EVER had one Miss America. But we have strong girls who place high. Does that make those coaches and directors unqualified? Alex, in the short time he has moved from only judging into interview prep and further into broad coaching has had finalists in Distinguished Young Women/Jr. Miss, Two times Top ten in Miss KY, Third runner up in Miss USA Teen, Second Runner up in County Fair Miss, Third runner up in MKOT for a contestant who had never even competed before. Most of that in just the last year. So, what exactly is the issue with his helping girls who ASK for his help? The other thing I think many people are missing is not every girl comes to him thinking they will win a crown. Just as not every girl who enters this system thinks they will win the state crown. There are many who enter because of the byproduct that it brings in self confidence, speaking, networking, community service and the smaller scholarships. Asking a coach of any kind to help you improve in an interview isn't always about just get me a title it is truly about improving in an area of weakness. It's about being more comfortable in an area where you are nervous. Many may not have the funds to hire a national interview person like the Don Bakers or Pageant Planet type gurus. I would seek interview ( big chunk of score) advice from many sources like detectives who interview for a living, attorneys, talent judges etc. BECAUSE the judging panel is never made up of professional pageant people. It is a wide variety of people sometimes just celebrities who know nothing about that interview except that they like you! In the end before you mock someone or run them down you might also want to know their back ground. I think if the original author and subsequent pile on posters did they they would find a very wide skill set for Mr Thompson that brings quite a lot to the table when being able to tell a girl what a judge is looking for in her performance, interview, walk and stage presence. But , hey if you don't want him then don't ask him to help you. I think the girls who do work with him are very happy. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
