Date Posted: 10:59:35 07/11/13 Thu In reply to: 's message, "Anybody know who's doing the laurel county homecoming prelim? It's closed just to Laurel County??" on 22:27:48 07/09/13 Tue I received a message that I should look on this page for comments regarding this pageant. I would like to state the facts. 1. It is closed to Laurel County BECAUSE it is the Laurel County Homecoming. In the 1960's, it was a preliminary pageant to the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization. The Laurel Co. Homecoming is one of the longest running festivals in Kentucky. Their winners have always been from Laurel County. 2. Madison is the current Miss Southeast Kentucky. She will not be able to compete in this local BECAUSE she is my current reigning queen. In addition, she will be in Orlando supporting her MKOT sister queen Laura Hancock. 3. Courtney Norvell doesn't live in Laurel County thus is NOT eligible to participate in the Laurel County Homecoming Pageant. As for her engagement, I haven't seen any posts or heard any comments to that effect. 4. As for the comments regarding new girls, I have a question. If no new girls ever enter preliminary pageants, all of the "older" contestants will eventually age out and you will have no contestants. We will be very proud of the young ladies that we take to Miss Kentucky and MKOT. Just remember - all contestants were NEW at one time! 5. As a local director, I work very, very hard with each of my winners. These two winners will be no exception. I have listed my email address in this post. If you have any questions regarding this pageant or Miss Cumberland Falls/Miss Southeast Kentucky, please direct them to me. I will be glad to answer each of them. I find it difficult to read some of the posts on this message board. It is no wonder that pageantry has such a negative connotation with so many. The Miss Kentucky and MKOT programs are great programs to build self-esteem and interview skills for the future. It is sad to see this program, its directors, and the contestants spoken of in a negative light. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

| I guess its maybe just me but I didnt take it as a negative because people were guessing Madison would win. She was an obvious choice for the area along with her sister. Not sure why this was such an issue, people were guessing who would win just like they do at any pageant. (NT) | No name | 14:01:23 07/11/13 Thu |
