Subject: Question Regarding Appearances

I've had a question regarding appearances .. how do you set up things like parade appearances? Here are some suggestions:

Parades are typically organized through city halls and if they are not, the city hall will definitely have information on who IS responsible for organizing parades in each town. So that's the first step ... call your city hall and ask how to find out who organizes various parades, and how to go about getting in one. Some parades provide convertibles and drivers, and some don't. Call your parade organizers and ask whether they do. If cars and drivers are not provided, then you can call your local car dealers and ask if they have any convertibles available on the day of the parade that you could borrow ... you will need to find someone to drive you in the parade. Car dealers will typically allow you to borrow their convertibles because they put their advertisement on the side or back of the car. They will tell you what time to pick up the car and how to return it after the parade.

You will also need two parade signs, listing your name and title, to attach to the doors on each side of the car. These should be rubber backed MAGNETIC signs or you should attach rubber magnets to the back of the signs to hold them onto the car. Car owners do NOT want metal magnets on their cars as they will scratch the paint. You can get rolls of rubber magnet strips at any craft store ... they are adhesive and just stick to the back of your signs, which can be made from posterboard.

If anyone else has any additional suggestions, please post them here ... thanks!

[> Parades - Appearances -- Shellie Matthes, 08:08:30 01/23/12 Mon [1]

In Minnesota we have found that many parades/festivals have a website. Google the event and then look for the festival's website-most of them have the parade application on the site to complete or print and mail in. Car dealers generally will loan you a convertible, but many have requested that the driver be over 18 and carry car insurance. Recently we have run into some dealers who will not loan out convertibles any longer, due to accidents by others so'their' insurance company will no longer let them loan out vehicles. We did locate a couple of car clubs and they always have members that own convertibles that are willing to drive in the parade.

Same thing goes for charity's - find the website and generally you will find a contact name & email.

If the city has a Chamber of Commerce-contact them as they will send you information on new store openings, events and gala's.

Ask other royalty when you are at an event-they generally have a coordinator that is willing to send you some information.

Hope this information helps!!
