Hi Ann,

thanks for your newsy letter. It's nice to hear what's going on in your life way over in the USA.

Now, everyone, here's my news of late from over here in Perth, Australia.

My children Andrew (10) and Charlotte (8) are about to go on school holidays. So they will be off school from 8th December until early in February. I am fairly racking my brain thinking of enough things for them to do so as to keep them busy and active for most of the long school holidays. Among other things, I will take them to the local swimming centre, the library, vsits to the park, crafts at home, friends for sleepovers, lots of cooking and of course some time for reading books, books and more books. All of this will be combined whilst chasing my active 2-nearly-3 year old Thomas. I wish my husband could take some hoildays too but he won't be able to as summer time is his most busy time of the year at work.

I also have been working in my garden, mainly keeping the weeds at bay and keeping aphids from devouring my roses!

I have my Christmas shopping done; I don't do masses of shopping as I hate over-doing Christmas presents for my kids - they look at their happiest and most grateful if we give them just a few presents each but start looking a bit bored and less grateful with too many. In my view, a simpler Christmas is a happier Christmas!

I have an old dog (13) and an old cat (17) who are both really feeling the heat this summer. I give them both ice cubes to lick and I keep them inside where it's cooler. And the real summer heat hasn't even started yet!!

I spend my spare time reading a wide variety of books, making handmade birthday cards and doing some sewing.

That's about all the news I have, I'm looking forward to reading about what the rest of you are all up to.

Happy Christmas All
Anne
