Subject: Back from Holiday
I've just got back from my holiday, only went for a week but I have been looking forward to it for months, the weather wasn't so good though it rained quite a few times. We went to Devon in the south west of the UK, we have been quite a few times but it's so nice down there, we stay in a converted barn, it's in a really small village, which you'd probably miss if you didn't already know about it!!
It was just nice to get away from the routine but not nice to do all the washing on the return! Well I;ll look forward to the next one now. I would like to get over to New York one day, it's been a dream of mine for the last few years, I'm thing of surprising my husband, but I'll have to save up first!!

Welcome back, Valerie! If you ever get to NYC, try to visit Connecticut too. I grew up there and there are a lot of pretty towns there.

Hi Valerie, we just got back from a week near Minehead in Somerset!! So we were probably within a few miles of each other some of the time. From what I can gather, we had better weather than they did here (near Reading).

Yes, the weather wasn't very good, it rained for 3 days but we had sun for a couple of days! We went last year at the end of June & we had sun every day so you never know what it's going to be like. It hasn't been much of a summer so far. We stopped off once in Somerset-Taunton, it's very nice down there. I come from Lancashire, so it's a few hours travelling. The roads were so busy with it being the Golden Jubilee that it took us 11 hours to get there this year when normally it just takes about 5 hours!!

Lancashire -- Ann, 13:25:06 06/11/02 Tue
I read a book called Katherine by Anya Seton, a fictional account of a woman who was Geoffrey Chaucer's sister-in-law and who eventually married John of Gaunt, the Duke of Lancashire, and the current royalty line is supposed to be descendants of their children. I always think of that book when I see anything regarding Lancashire. :)

I haven't read that book, it's so nice to read about where you come from, especially historal stories. I love history and reading about the past.
I live in the town but the countryside is lovely around here and it's not far from Yorkshire.
