As a young girl I was probably more like Mary (goody-two-shoes), but as I aged I think I became more like Laura, lol. I do remember in junior high thinking it was time I started speaking up, and I kept getting in trouble for talking in class. :)
Mary seemed so shy, and hesitant to go to town on 4th of July and that sort of thing. Though she may probably missed having the opportunity to become a teacher because of losing her eyesight, I wonder if she would have "made it" dealing with a school full of kids, especially some of the older rowdy boys.

Interesting question! I would say I am a combo between Mary and Laura. I am definitely quiet and maybe a little shy around those I don't know. Very sensitive and get my feelings hurt very easily. On the other side once I get to know someone I don't shut up and (probably in combination with the feelings getting easily hurt) anger very easy and blow up like Mt. Vesuvius! LOL!!!! When Laura fights back with her anger and says things that she knows Ma/Pa wouldn't like - that is me! LOL!
