What a lovely welcome back! Thought I'd pop over before I start my children with their homeschooling today, and was so surprised to see my 'old' friends still remember me. Thanks!
To answer your questions:
Jennifer, I have not purchased a turkey fryer as yet, but my mother told me there were three of them at the Family Reunion last summer (which I missed) and everyone declared the concept as a winner for sure. My hubby's best friend and his wife have also bought one, and I'm hoping for an invitation to taste this treat before I shell out the bucks (or loonies as the case may be) for the fryer and the 40 litres of peanut oil! (Did Miz Smith tell you I was painting my son's bedroom with an Iced Cap? She had no idea what the heck I was talking about! And actually, it's just the COLOUR of an iced cap, not the real thing!)
Now LisaE knows what an Iced Cap is, not that we are requiring them for hydration and cooling purposes anymore this year. LOL I tell you, LisaE, these Americans and Australians have no idea what they're missing by not having a Timmy's to run to for dougnuts and coffee. We should get an international franchise and make our first million. Whaddaya say? I'll hang onto the snow for a little longer, but I fear you'll be getting your fair share soon. Shiver. I hate driving on the stuff, that's the worst part of winter IMHO. How many anniversaries have you had ... one? two? My memory is pathetic.
Ann, thank you for asking, I am still writing. I did cry one day when my computer wouldn't recognize the disk I had about 6 chapters saved on, and I lost about 30,000 words when the hard drive 'ate' part of what was saved there as well. I think I'm all set again. How are your books doing?
Mrs. Firth, I've missed you more. Trust me. And JC says to say Hi, and he's still wondering if you'll ever let Mr. Firth out of your sight for a round of golf. I already told him no, you wouldn't.
Anne, my Commonwealth Buddy, you can come to my home and enjoy all the snow you want. Book your trip for Canada and you won't be disappointed with winter! LOL I have no concept of not having ever seen snow, and I have also been in heatwaves (hello Ontario), and hailstorms are not fun. Neither are tornadoes. But you won't face hail or tornadoes in winter here. Honest! (Nor big bugs or snakes.)
Cindy, you come right on up and take a big ol' box of snow home to Texas. And BTW, you wouldn't want to 'see' my face just now. I only have moisturizer on, no makeup. Hope UPS doesn't come to the door or something. Yikes.
Wow. That was a long message. Hope all of you haven't been lulled to sleep yet! I shall try and return as often as I can to keep up with the news and events. Thanks again for welcoming me back instead of just yelling at me!
(And I think if anyone wants to talk 'Nancy Drew', then Miz Smith might have a comment or two. Maybe. Seems she has found another favourite childhood series.)

Hey Kim!
Just in last hour we've started our first snowfall! A little exciting, as long as it doesn't get out of hand.
I just celebrated my first anniversary! First year is over. Whew! j/k. And, we're expecting our first baby this February!

Congratulations!! -- Kim, 15:55:53 11/01/02 Fri
A Valentine's baby! Fabulous! Now remember, no shovelling snow, no lifting heavy stuff, no bending over so far you can't sit back up again, no washing dishes, no ironing, no washing floors .... hey, milk this all you can! ;-)
As irony would have it, we are sitting at a balmy +6C right now and all the snow is now a puddley mess, mostly ice. Enjoy your snow. I did forestall it as long as I could.
(You're evidently better at planning your baby's birthdate better than we were. Our daughter's is 7 days before Christmas, our first son's is on my birthday, and our second son's is on our anniversary. Marvy, eh?)

Congratulations, Lisa. That is such happy news. Perhaps the little one will be born Laura's birthday. :)

Lisa E, congrats to you and your hubby! -- Anne, 21:20:44 11/01/02 Fri
That is such wonderful news!! It is so exciting expecting a baby, especially the first! Keep us posted on how you are going, we would all love to know.
I hope you don't get Braxton Hicks contractions frequently like I did at about 32 weeks on and off until I was actually due. When I really did begin labour my husband didn't believe me and rolled over to go back to sleep until I whacked him with my handbag.
Remember, no shovelling snow or other heavy work like Kim said!
