I think in real life they did hire someone to help on the farm (or a few people) but I don't know how good looking they were. I think I remember reading it somewhere(but where right now I don't know) I may be wrong though. I just got home from work and having 28 third graders going psycho with Halloween made me a little crazy.

They did hire that man who came upon L & A's wagon. Remember, he was in need of food for his family. Almanzo ended up giving him some of their food. I'm not sure if this was true, but it was in the Rose books. This guy in the tv movie was single, not married like the "real" handyman.
