Author: Ann
Subject: The Iowa Story
I saw the book described below on ebay. Is anyone familiar with it? Is it at all interesting?
"The Iowa Story Burr Oak: The Missing Era. Includes a letter excerpt by her daughter, Rose Wilder Lane explaining the reason for the omission. Tells what led up to the move to Iowa; how and where they lived; what became of the hotel they helped to run. Includes letters from Laura, Rose’s impression when she visited in 1932, maps, photos and more."

Yes, it's worth having, but don't buy it on ebay unless it's cheaper than De Smet or Mansfield sells it for!!

Thanks, Nancy. I probably won't bid on ebay, unless it looks as if it's going to go for minimum. I might even see if I can get it through my local (independent) book store, and give them a little business.

There's also a fictional book about the Iowa years coming out in March/April. It's by Cynthia Rylant, called "Old Town in the Green Groves." Will be interesting to see how much research went into that one, but probably not much beyond using Pioneer Girl.

Cynthia Ryant used to live here in Oregon (maybe she still does, I'm not sure). That one I might look for at the library.

Yes, I think its worth the money. Those WA pamplet style books are inexpensive. I have all but the Walnut Grove one. There is a lot of info in them.
Thanks for the heads-up, Nancy. I will be on the lookout for that book.
