No- I live in a state (WA) where it is common for girls to compete for multiple titles, even multiple seasons, before they win their first local title. For the girls that compete year after year, the local board they work alongside is just as much of a prize as the title and the ticket to state. WA state is lucky to be full of local titleholders who are lot only grateful to be holding the title, but excited and honored to uphold the job associated. The WA State local's association is a testament to how important locals are to the longevity of the Miss America program. -- Guru Message Board

It's also common in WA for the same Top 5 to win locals every year and go to state every year, while others have to try for 10 years before winning a title. WA's locals are amazing, but they need to find a way to let more than the same 5 girls benefit from those locals. (NT) No name
